Mission Statement

Helping People after Times of Disaster

Our Primary Mission is to relieve families of some of their Immediate Suffering following Natural or Man-made Disasters. Our response will be primarily to Disasters resulting from Tornadoes, Major Grass Fires, Floods, Hurricanes, Earthquakes and other Major Disasters. We are presently extending support to families suffering from Home Fires and Special Circumstances.

Disaster Helping Hands has been in existence, as a 501 ( C ) 3, Tax Exempt Organization officially since 15 February 2006; although, we had been assisting families in 2005. As a small organization, our assistance is Disaster Focus and we concentrate our efforts on Mission Accomplishment. We have 3 members on our board, as required by Law, and operate primarily with Volunteers to accomplish our mission. Although, all Board Members are salaried positions, no member has received a salary or any form of pay to-date. All funds collected to-date has been dedicated to Mission Accomplishment and our Building Project. As of August 2013, we have given away over 225 tons of Appliances, Food and Furniture to Families and Communities that meet our requirements.

The items that we have given to Families and Communities were donated by Businesses, Families Down-sizing or Death of a family member, Families Relocating, Estate Settlements, State Institutions and other sources. We help those in need by giving them major household items needed in re-establishing their lives to some degree of normalcy when they are least likely to help themselves financially or emotionally. We have helped many families following House Fires in the Wichita Falls Texas Area and surrounding communities. Limited assistance has been extended to help Senior Citizens, First Step, the Wichita Falls Boys and Girls Club, Churches and the Area Agency on Aging of North Texas. We have helped many communities in surrounding states following Major Disasters.
